As you celebrate America’s birthday with your friends and family, the team at Guns & Tactics Magazine wishes you a very happy Independence Day!

Independence Day is one of my two favorite holidays, the other being Thanksgiving. Both of these holidays are decidedly American and we here at Guns & Tactics consider ourselves true red-blooded patriots. It is in this spirit that I am writing today with requests for my fellow patriots this July 4th.

First, please refer to this day as “Independence Day.” Sure, it falls on “the 4th of July,” but the vote for Independence was actually taken on July 2nd and we’re not celebrating a date on the calendar today any more than we’d wish someone a “merry December 25th.” Take the time to explain to the young ones in your life what we’re celebrating and why it’s important. Talk about the sacrifice so many have made to get and keep our freedom.

Second, sometime this evening stop and raise a glass to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Choose a specific American soldier, whether someone you know personally from modern times or a warfighter from earlier in history, and put a face to their name as you tell their story.

“I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

Next, never lose the revolutionary spirit and never concede your freedoms. This country was built from brave individuals who weren’t willing to be bullied. Be unapologetically patriotic – I love this country and so do you. Live your life like John Hancock did, signing your signature as the largest and clearest on the page so there would be no mistake or difficulty for King George III to see just who it belonged to.

“Behind every blade of grass…”

Finally, keep your head on a swivel today and carry your EDC. There are credible threats being made against us and as we celebrate this great holiday, as always, we need to keep an eye out for the wolf.

Now go sling some lead and blow up something colorful and loud. Share a meal with friends and family, and join your fellow Americans as we enjoy the best birthday party around. From all of us at Guns & Tactics Magazine, we wish you a safe and happy Independence Day.
