Shield Sights, the maker of the popular RMS, RMSw, RMSc, and SMS mini red dot sights, has listened to user feedback and now is offering an all glass lens option. This is awesome news! Previously lenses were made of a polymer that offered more durability than glass; however, the material was softer and prone to scratching. The polymer lenses also required careful cleaning to avoid scratching, as well.
The Shield RMS series of sights are slim and low profile and in my opinion, offer arguably one of the best presentation and shooting experiences when equipped on a handgun such as a Glock MOS model. The slim width of the Shield matches the Glock slide, and their mounting plate allows the sight to sit so low you can use standard height sights. I always loved the speed of acquisition and low profile of the Shield RMS. My only complaint was the scratches that I experienced, as well.
The new Glass Lens is available to customers by using the new Customizer Widget on Shield’s Website. Another cool new feature, which I think will be especially popular for the competition shooters, is new color options. New color choices include Blue, Bordeaux Red, British Racing Green, Bronze, Crimson Orange, Silver, Gunmetal Grey, Purple as well as Black. All of the finishes are Type III sulfuric acid anodizing and look sharp. Customers can still choose between 4 MOA or 8 MOA dots, and customers looking for the traditional polymer lens have that option with the customizer as well.
MSRP for full custom optics ranges from $500-600 with an estimated delivery time of 4-6 weeks from order.
