You lost me at “proprietary direct impingement system”.
The one big advantage of direct impingement over a short stroke gas piston is the standardization. You take that away, and I don’t see the point.
I know Barrett is capable of making a piston AR, and they should have either done that with this, or just used a standard direct impingement gas system.
